OUR MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE KINGDOM OF GOD THROUGH RECREATIONAL SPORTS.

FBC Nesbit Coach Code of Conduct

You are an important part in the lives of not only our players but their parents. You have the opportunity to directly shape their character. How you act and speak should reflect your values as a believer in Christ. This Code of Conduct better outlines our expectations for all our coaches to ensure that we are first and foremost focused on Christ in our sporting environment and we are instilling positive, encouraging, respectful attitudes towards everyone.

Live out your faith. Remember that you are watched not only on the field but off the field in your home, community, churches. Be the light that God has called you to be. Your words and actions should inspire others to live out their faith.

Walk in Truth. There is much in our world today that is no longer easy to discern truth. Be honest in your actions. Be above bar and coach and play with integrity.

Respect to all. NO, we are not always going to agree but you can respect one another even when you disagree. Treat all our refs, parents, coaches, players with worth and dignity.

We represent Jesus. Sportsmanship in our league is defined as encouraging, fair play, humble, and grace giving. This applies to our coaches, players and parents.

Be an encourager. Make every effort to build one another up, not tear each other down. Kids today need to hear positive feedback to build their confidence and self esteem. We want our players to grow and growth comes with constructive feedback and redirection. Remember in your own job…how do you grow better - constructive feedback or criticism?

We only have one life - one body. Safety of our players is the utmost importance. Know their health situations. Those players with special needs, encourage parental involvement especially if you are uncertain on how to handle them in certain situations. Make sure that your training area is safe and if there is an issue, PLEASE ALERT US!! Our ministry values health and fitness and developing good habits. Be mindful of limitations and the need for breaks.

HAVE FUN! Don't over think practice sessions and games. Definitely look for ways to improve yourself as a coach and your team. Give yourself grace. Always come back to the fun of the game. Life is already too serious…laugh, smile and have fun!

STATEMENT OF FAITH OF THE RECREATION MINISTRY TEAM of FBC Nesbit All members of our Recreation Ministry Team have signed this statement of faith as their personal statement of faith. We ask that each of our Coaches, Referees and volunteers read and review this statement and understand that everything Nesbit Recreation Ministry offers in the way of sporting activities aligns with these statements and the statements in the By-Laws of FBC Nesbit in regards to to belief and conduct; sanctity of human life; and marriage, gender and sexuality. THE BIBLE - 2 Timothy 3:15-17 The Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God. SALVATION - Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:8 Everyone is born with a sinful nature and in need of salvation. Jesus' gift of salvation is a free gift for all sinners. Jesus’ death on the cross paid the full price to atone for our sin. Salvation happens when an individual responds in repentance and faith to the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus. Salvation is by grace and not by any human works. CONDUCT - Titus 3:2; Colossians 1:10; Philippians 4:8; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 5:4; Mark 12:28-31 All our thoughts and actions are to be done as done for the Lord Himself bringing Him glory; they are to be encouraging and done in thanksgiving. Our lives are continuously growing in the knowledge of God and the fruit of our lives is evident in our lifestyle and language. Our lives are to be lived and spoken in honesty and gentleness avoiding quarrels, evil and gossip. Every person must be afforded compassion, kindness, love, respect and dignity. Hatefulness and harassing behavior is neither scriptural and nor glorifying to our God. SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE - OUR HERITAGE - Psalm 139; Psalm 127:3; Proverbs 22:6 Children are a gift from God and thus are to be treated that way. All human life is of great worth to God. This is irrespective of mental or physical challenges and extends from conception through natural death. We are called to defend, protect and value human life. Children are entrusted to parents to be trained in righteousness for His glory. MARRIAGE, GENDER AND SEXUALITY - Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 618, 7:2-5; Hebrews 14:4; Matthw 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10) God has wonderfully created each person as male or female. They reflect the image and nature of God in a distinctive and complimentary way. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union for life. God intends sexual intimacy to occur between a man and a woman united in marriage. Any form of sexual immorality is a sin and is offensive to God (adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual behavior, incest, bestiality, pornography). I hereby understand the above Statement of Faith and as a volunteer leader/coach or referee in the FBC Recreation Ministry, which is a direct ministry of First Baptist Church of Nesbit, agree to adhere to the statements as listed in the by laws in regards to marriage, gender, and sexuality; sanctity of life; and belief and conduct.
